Lily's Wedding dress

Lily and rest of the family went dress hunting a few weeks ago. After hours of searching with the entire family, she found the perfect one. Here are some pics of her.

"gasp"  my year's budget  of food and entertainment in this dress!!!!

Update

Trent and I are finally done with studying for the boards and we are ecstatic. We started our oral surgery rotation this week at Columbia and the Bronx VA and are glad to be seeing patients for the first time. My experience has been fun and challenging so far. Most of my day consists of suctioning blood, listening to the veteran's life stories, and convincing them that I am not in high school. I was able to extract a 2nd molar and half a canine during my first week, which isn't a bad start. Hopefully, I will get more hands on experience the next few weeks.
Some notes on our August visitors.
Elaine came a few weeks before our exam and interviewed at several hospitals. They called her a few days ago about  a job contract so congrats to her.
Mom and Melissa came last Saturday and left yesterday. We went out to eat with them a few times and she checked out our apartment for the first time. She loved the view of the bridge and river and actually slept over on Friday. Mom hasn't been back to NY since 1998, and she had tons of fun catching up with friends and eating with them. This is probably her first real vacation in 15 years and I am happy that she enjoyed the trip so much.
Tia is with us for another week and she has been keeping herself busy cleaning and dusting our apartment. Mom was definitely suspicious of the organization of my place but realized quickly that Tia was reason for it. WST definitely makes a good housewife!!!!!!! Yesterday, we watched 4 movies and checked out a Malaysian restaurant in Ctown.  I cooked a huge breakfast this morning and we spent the entire afternoon running around the lake in Central park and getting groceries at Whole Foods. We are planning to try some Greek or Ethiopian food, go shopping with Aunt Sue, and throw in some kayaking sometime this week. >

Mom treated us to our favorite Italian restaurant. We had pasta and pizza, too bad we don't have any pics of her and Melissa.

Trent had black pasta with shrimp.

I always order this dish, Pasta with Clams.

Tia, Trent and I made dinner tonight. We had grilled chicken with macaroni and cheese, salad, and a plate of fruit for dessert.

Henna Tattoo and Mel

My friend Tasneem , who is a professional henna tattoo artist, certified bartender,  AND a full time dental student on the side, "inked" me during Kristina's "after-boards" party a few weeks ago. Check it out.

In other news, Melissa and her friend from Kent  visited us this week. We took them out to the West Village one night to eat and hang out. Other than that, she toured the city with her friend. Melissa only stayed for a few days but according to her, she had a swell time!!! Here is a picture of her posing with Trent......... I mean a naked statue.

Food for Thought

Here are pictures of us cooking simple and healthy meals at home.

SUSHI---------
So one night, Trent thought it would be "fun" to make sushi at home.  At first, I was a little skeptical about this "great" idea of his. I was afraid of the work and extra dishes I might have to clean. Seriously, who other than Japanese folks prepare sushi for dinner in their own kitchen. But he read some stuff online before attempting his first maki rolls and it is easier than you would think.

This is edible!! Unagi (eel) avocado rolls.

Trent really needs a shirt.

TURKEY BURGERS-------------
Trent grilled  turkey patties while I sauteed mushrooms and green beans

Hi Aunt Jean and Uncle Pat!! check out my wok!! Don't I look like a less bubbly Rachael Ray?

I bought some peaches that weren't quite ripe so I plopped then on the massive George Foreman with honey to help soften the texture.

We love our kosher "bigger than your face" buns on our turkey patties.

FLOUNDER------------
Baked fish with a mixture of bread crumbs and Panko flakes (good idea from Aunt Barb) on Romaine Lettuce. Trent had this with Raspberry dressing and I had it with a Miso Thai Lime dressing.

PASTA-------------

Fresh mushroom ravioli (from the market) with roasted pepper tomato sauce and lots of mozzarella cheese on the top (also made with my wok- I totally should have invented this)

Shout out to WST

Tia,
thanks for errrrr...... the pamphlet

Indy Day!

Hola from Washington heights!!! I know this post is crazy late, but I’ve been pretty BUUUSSSYYYY memorizing crazy random facts for my upcoming boards. Okay, let’s get started!

Trent and I spent several stupendous days at home enjoying the company of our families and friends. It was really nice to get away from the stress and crazy people of NYC. My white sister Tia (aka WST), Tom, and I competed in a fishing derby Tuesday evening. While I caught 9 fish, including a ginormous walleye and bass, Trent ran around the neighborhood block with Judy chasing after him on a bike. Tom started a campfire at night and we, well more like I, stuffed my face with atrocious vats of fatty foods ( the menu included meat popsicle hot dogs, pizza, and smores). Honestly, the best part about being in Fremont is the fact that Tom buys me an entire decade’s worth of food that is most certainly banned in our apartment. The diet is freaking awesome!!!!! But only for a day, because I don’t even want to imagine what my waistline would be if I lived there. Jenny and Kayden (the cutest, most energetic little tyke around) visited us while we waited for Lily, Chris and David to arrive. Lily had to put in a crazy 13 hour day so they didn’t get to Fremont until 1. It was nice catching up with the peeps and listening to David’s crazy stories about his time with Carlun in NYC. Lily and I also had to endure several hours watching the crazy boys tried to burn a half eaten watermelon shell. They finally gave up on boiling off the watermelon juice at 3 am in the morning and we shuffled off to bed.

On July 4th, we headed to Cedar Point to see Buzz, Barb and the rest of the Tucker gang at the boat. The weather wasn’t ideal but the small showers did not stopped us from enjoying our day jet skiing, swimming in the pool, relaxing in the hot tub, and playing cards. Tia and I even got to do some sun tanning and mud slinging. I was a little bummed out that Elaine and Melissa were not able to make it to the boat this year, but I had a great time with Lily and Chris (and David). I can’t believe they are getting married in less than a year.

Being able to see our families is the best part of the trip and it sucks that we’ve been so busy the past two summers with studying, working, and doing research. We definitely miss spending our weekends chilling at the boat. Ironically, although this is the first summer in like 10 years I haven't had to work a crappy job, it’s been the most strenuous yet. Putting in 10 hour days sitting in the library is a lot harder than physically working a 10 hour day. No joke!!!!!

Psoas Major with Cous Cous, Green Beans, and Mushrooms

Betty and I worked together to make a steak dinner. I manned the George Forman with the steak, and she cooked on her special wok that mom got her for Christmas (yes, she uses it everyday).  We definitely need to get some more of this steak as it is great (especially for the price) and I can freeze large quantities of it. This dinner is trying to become my favorite meal at home, but it has a ways to go to beat my unagi avocado maki and blue fin sashimi tuna.  It has the advantage of being much easier and quicker to prepare, and would be even easier to grill if I didn't have to use an electric George Forman grill, as I have to butterfly the thicker cuts to keep the meat from mooing in the middle.  I seem to have convinced Betty that the blender we have works ok enough (she wants some sort of personal blender she says is easier to clean and use) as she spun up come wonderful smoothies to complete the dinner.  It is always nice to have something other than NYC tap water and skim milk every once in a while.

Beef filet mignon with Monterey spicy seasoning and A1 steak sauce (Psoas Major from Fairway, whole tenderloin for $6.99 per pound) with couscous (Whole Foods prepared for store package), green beans and white mushrooms (fresh from Fairway), and smoothie beverage with banana, strawberry, blue berries, and plain yogurt (Whole Foods 365 fat free).
